John Hewett Precision Engineering Limited started business early in 2015 but the seed for this business actually started some 38 years earlier, when John was given a small metal lathe for his 8th birthday. On this lathe John's father taught him how to make double headed coins, with no Digital Read Out or modern equipment this was extremely difficult and required dedication and skill.

John went to college and studied for an OND in engineering before starting work in the Cambridge high tech industry at Cambridge Consultants. He was extremely fortunate that Cambridge Consultants invested a lot of time and money to train John in the design office and then later the workshop, which is where John stayed for many years as a skilled manufacturer of one off high tech engineering products.

In particular John has always loved manufacturing very small parts and typically medical devices, due to their complexity and miniaturisation.

John continued to be excited by the academic side of engineering too and studied part time for HNC's and HND's in electronic and mechanical engineering, before qualifying for an honours degree in Engineering.

From there  John went on to work for other high tech companies in Cambridge before becoming workshop manager at Pfizer's (worlds largest pharmaceutical company) device development headquarters in Cambridge. Here John set up a fantastic suite of technology, consisting of tradional machining and the latest rapid prototyping technology, further honing John's abilities to produce fast and accurate development parts.

After Pfizer's swathe of redundancy in 2011 John worked in the workshop of PA Consulting in Cambridge, helping to develop new products in the medical, high tech and consumer market for blue chip clients.

John's roles have required him to liase with clients, subcontractors and designers for many years to ensure that your product development is kept on track. Deadlines are extremely important to John and he is dedicated to helping designers to acheive a working prototype, device, product, rig or jig within their timescale.

John personally knows most of his clients, they know that by placing their trust in John to meet their deadline and deliver high quality engineering prototypes, they won't be disappointed.

If you have small batch, high tolerance work, or an impossibly short timescale for manufacture, then John Hewett Precision Engineering Ltd may well be able to help.
